Collage Painting with Collage : Acrylic, Card and Burpla. 2022.

 

A series of Collage Paintings depicting the juxtaposition of buildings in my local area of Isleworth, Greater London. I began photographing the light shining through the buildings while on nighttime walks during the Covid Pandemic. 'I live on a council estate which is sandwiched between some very expensive terraced houses and a housing estate with towers blocks. This creates a complex social and economic landscape where some people from the more expensive areas frown upon the people living on the council estate, and the high-rise dwellers are often condemned to second-class status. I began to notice the streetlights which shone through the buildings and I thought about them as coexisted without bias.. I mixed collage elements (card and burpla) with Acrylic Painting and used subtle colour variations to suggest the merging of the buildings.
